Thousands of people filled the streets of Grosseto on Saturday June 13 for the 2026 edition of Tuscany Pride, one of the largest annual public events in support of LGBTQIA+ rights in the region.
According to organisers, around 15,000 people attended the march, which travelled through the city centre with floats, music and banners calling for equality, inclusion and greater legal protections for LGBTQIA+ people in Italy.
The event transformed central Grosseto into a day-long gathering of associations, activists, families and supporters from across Tuscany. Speakers on the main stage highlighted issues including legal recognition for same-sex families, protections against discrimination and the rights of transgender people.
Organisers described the event as a call for visibility and participation at a time when LGBTQIA+ organisations say many rights claims remain unresolved. Several speakers stressed the importance of public engagement and solidarity, arguing that civil rights should not be taken for granted.
Pride across Tuscany
Tuscany Pride is held in a different city each year and has become one of the region’s main public demonstrations for LGBTQIA+ rights. Previous editions have taken place in cities including Florence, Arezzo, Siena and Livorno.
This year’s choice of Grosseto brought the event to Tuscany’s southern coast and highlighted the presence of LGBTQIA+ communities beyond the region’s largest urban centres.
The march ended with speeches, performances and cultural events celebrating diversity and inclusion.
