Fiorentina, Cuadrado in a 35 mln euro deal

FLORENCE, ITALY – ACF Fiorentina and Chelsea have agreed a 35 million euro deal to take Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado from Florence to Stamford Bridge.

Cuadrado, 26, had his last training session with his Viola teammates Thursday afternoon. Fiorentina have agreed to take 22-year-old Egypt winger Mohammed Salah on loan as part of the deal.

Cuadrado completed a move to Fiorentina on 23 July 2012. He scored his first goal for the Florence club in a 4–1 victory at home to Cagliari. He finished his first season in Viola with 5 goals and 6 assists, an integral part of a side that finished 4th in Serie A.

On 11 February 2014, Cuadrado scored Fiorentina’s second goal of a 2–0 Coppa Italia semi-final second leg victory over his former club, Udinese, securing La Viola a 3-2 aggregate victory and a spot in the final.[7] He was suspended for the final, which his team lost 1–3 to Napoli on 3 May.

On 16 June 2014, amid media speculation of a move for the player to a larger club, Fiorentina agreed a deal to purchase full ownership of Cuadrado’s contract from Udinese.  Cuadrado, who impressed at the World Cup, has 37 caps and five goals for his country.
