Firenze Rocks eyes expansion with glamping option for 2027

The future of Firenze Rocks could include a luxury camping area and a longer programme, according to organisers and city officials. Plans under discussion for the 2027 edition involve extending the festival to three or four days, adding a second stage and potentially introducing a “glamping” area inside the venue.

The proposal was outlined by Roberto De Luca, president and CEO of Live Nation Italia, on the sidelines of a press conference in Florence. He said the idea responds in part to demand from international audiences, who are increasingly asking for on-site accommodation options linked to large music events.

Florence mayor Sara Funaro described the hypothesis as interesting, noting that similar solutions are already common in other countries. She added that the city administration would support the organisers, while any camping project would require coordination with Italy’s heritage authorities, which oversee sites of historical and environmental value.

2026 edition: line-up and practical changes

The next edition of Firenze Rocks is scheduled from 12 to 14 June 2026 at the Visarno Arena, a large outdoor venue in Parco delle Cascine. Headliners include Lenny Kravitz, Robbie Williams, The Cure and Salmo.

Organisers said they had also explored additional international acts, but underlined the logistical complexity of securing specific artists within a three-day schedule.

Among the main changes for 2026 is the introduction of a partially cashless system. Festival-goers will be able to order food and drinks through an app and collect them at designated counters. Traditional token systems will still be available, alongside card payments, after complaints from attendees in previous editions.

Sustainability monitoring and services for visitors

The 2026 festival will also host a pilot project aimed at measuring the environmental impact of large live events. Developed with industry partners, the initiative will track indicators such as CO₂ emissions, air quality and waste dispersion, using satellite data and comparisons with past editions.

The longer-term goal is to create a national observatory on sustainability in live events, potentially extending the monitoring system to other concerts organised across Italy.

For attendees, the city plans additional services during the festival days. These include discounted entry to Florence’s civic museums for ticket holders and enhanced public transport connections to and from the venue. Guided tours are also expected to be offered, focusing on lesser-known parts of the city and departing from the central market area.

Firenze Rocks has grown into one of Italy’s main summer music events in recent years, attracting large international audiences. The proposed changes for 2027 signal an effort to further expand its format while addressing logistical and environmental challenges.
