FLORENCE, ITALY – Palazzo Strozzi becomes high tech and makes the experience of visiting the exhibition more complete, immersive and engaging by launching a new Spotify profile with three special playlists inspired by the great American Art 1961-2001 exhibition. From Andy Warhol to Kara Walker. Thanks to this platform it is possible to enjoy the visit listening to music designed specifically for each section of the exhibition.

Palazzo Strozzi in collaboration with Salotto Studio, offers American Jukebox, a musical selection of three thematic playlists: Girl Power, American Dream and Tu Vuò Fa ‘l’Americano, who offers a real musical journey through time and genres. Songs to sing, dance and reflect: we start from the great classics of American music, such as Paint it, Black by the Rolling Stones, Smell Like Teen Spirit in Patti Smith’s version, Pull Up To The Bumper by Grace Jones or I Feel Love by Donna Summer, passing through the Italian vision of the “States” to the more socially inspired songs that gave voice to the injustices of the time, such as Respect by Aretha Franklin or Talkin’Bout a Revolution by Tracy Chapman.

The playlists will be published every month on the Palazzo Strozzi’s profile on Spotify. Will be available directly on Spotify or on the Palazzo Strozzi website .

Three playlists:

Girl Power – Available from June 23rd.
A musical selection in the heart of the Girl Power of the last 60 years in the USA. Sylvia Plath reads Lady Lazarus and brings together the goddesses of music such as Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Patti Smith and Janis Joplin, talking about rights, genres, changing roles and revolution.

American dream – Available from July 4th.
A series of tracks to dream of American adventures: dance with Grace Jones at Studio 54, lose yourself in the soul of Marvin Gaye or jump to a Rolling Stones concert. Between hits and rare gems, the playlist becomes a sound landscape in which to enjoy the works of the exhibition.

Tu Vuò Fa ‘l’Americano – Available from 9 August.
The Italian idea of the American dream. The selected pieces follow one another in a continuous game of misunderstanding and synthesis of cultures.
