Pokemon spotted at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy

Pokémon spotted inside Uffizi, Boboli garden

FLORENCE, ITALY – The animated critters of the famous cell phone game Pokémon Go have been sighted in the dozens in the Uffizi museum, some workers say in these days.

Famous characters such as Bulbasaur and Rattata have been seen on the premises, as well as in Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli gardens.

Museum director, Eike Schmidt, quipped that the virtual invasion was much better than a recent one of ticks, for which a few rooms had to be closed for some days in April.

Pokémon Go is a free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic for iOS and Android devices.

Making use of GPS and the camera of compatible devices, the game allows players to capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon, who appear on device screens as though in the real world.

The game is free to play, although it supports in-app purchases of additional gameplay items.
