Wine-made painting art exhibit at Viva Vino LA

LOS ANGELES, USA – A new offerings this year at Viva Vino LA. It includes a special wine-made painting art exhibit by Elisabetta Rogai and an advance two-week Italian Restaurant Week at participating restaurants.

Rogai uses red and white wine without any other chemicals to paint her romantic, expressive depictions of women. Because of the organic nature of the materials, Rogai’s canvasses literally age just like a fine wine, changing color and texture after around three months.

Viva Vino LA, the premiere Italian wine festival presented by the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce West, The North American Sommelier Association, and Please the Palate, makes its grand return to Los Angeles for a second year of illustrious and educational dinners, lectures, tastings and seminars May 14-19 at various locations.

Elisabetta Rogai was born in Florence where she lives and works. Her shows include “La Forza e la Virtù” a Pietrasanta and many more in Florence, Venice, Cannes, Milan, Kyoto and Capri.

Recently the artist has received acclaim for “Astrid”, the painting represented on the label of the official wine of the Italian term of the European Union presidency. Also for the brilliant idea of painting on denim canvas some of her works and for representing Florence during the 40th anniversary of the day on which Florence and Kyoto became twin cities. Elisabetta’s carrier nevertheless started in 2001 when her first exhibition, “L’Essenza dell’Essere” took place in the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica Santa Maria Novella in Florence.

In 2002 Elisabetta stepped into the international scene, bringing her works in Lugano and on the Croisette of Cannes. Her first important exhibition outside of Tuscany, entitled “Forti Emozioni”, was held in Capri in July 2002. After that an exhibition on “Feelings” took place in the Palagio di Parte Guelfa in Florence.

In July 2003 the exhibition called “Riflessioni” successfully took place at the Gran Caffè “Quadri” in San Marco square in Venice, during the Biennale d’Arte. In addition the making of the label of the Astrid wine – the Chianti Classico chosen as the official wine for the Italian term of the European Union presidency – spread Elisabetta’s name outside of Italy.

In 2004 two more important events took place for the art of Elisabetta Rogai: an exhibit at the Grand Hotel of Florence and another one in the cloister of Sant’Agostino in Pietrasanta – a world famous artistic center.

In the fall of 2005 Elisabetta was chosen by the city of Florence as the representative for the twinning ceremony with Kyoto. In the same period her paintings were exhibited at the Capricorno Gallery in Washington.

In 2006, after participating at the “Pitti Uomo” and “Pitti Bimbo” fashion shows at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, the artist went back to Campania to Palazzo Crispi with an exhibition entitled “Senza pregiudizi”. In September her paintings opened the artistic season at the Schubert Gallery in Milan, with two shows: “Genesi” and “Iconici”. Besides her artistic production, Elisabetta Rogai has experimented new artistic initiatives, for example painting on denim canvas and making frescoes on wooden tables (at the church of San Giovanni Battista in Corazzano).

In September 2007 Elisabetta Rogai does a new exhibition, “Dialogues”, at the gallery Michail in Florence. Spring 2008, moreover, see the artist dealing with two important “works”: a commemorative painting made for the 70° years of the School of Air War in Florence, sets in front of the “fresco” of Pietro Annigoni and an its “synthesis” given by the aeronautics military to the president of the Republic George Napolitano for the 85 years of the army.
