FLORENCE, ITALY – Fresh out of their away win against AS Roma, Fiorentina have to contend with several key players’ injuries.
Subbing for Cerci 9 minutes into the second half, Italian-Brazilian midfielder Amauri suffered an abductor tendon lesion. With a 3-week prognosis ahead of him, Amauri is therefore off the cards until season’s end. Placing their hopes in Amauri to avert relegation, Fiorentina also have to contend with Cerci’s injury.
The midfielder has suffered a long abductor lesion, which is likely to force him out of Sunday’s match against Atalanta and may prejudice his chances for the subsequent match against Novara. Doctors also confirm Montolivo’s thigh flexor tendon.
Roma can count its 2-1 loss to Fiorentina as a missed opportunity in the race to qualify for the Champions League, as Steven Jovetic and Andrea Lazzari gave the away side a shock win at the Stadio Olimpico.
