Inter beat Fiorentina 2-1 to win their first Serie A home game of the season. Milito put Inter in front after converting a penalty kick, but the visitors managed to equalise through Romulo. Despite playing well, Fiorentina could not stop Cassano from scoring a second goal for the home side and ended the game empty-handed.
“Way of Love”, watch the rockslide slammed
A rockslide slammed into Italy’s popular Way of Love hiking trail in the coastal Cinque Terre resort area, injuring four Australian women. One was crushed by rocks and another was knocked off the steep path. Cinque Terre (Five Lands) is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region, close to Tuscany.
Watch the bus on fire on the Autopalio highway
On the afternoon of September 27, the Fire Department in Florence have taken on the Autopalio, the Firenze-Siena highway (on the road to Florence near the exit of Bargino), for overheating brakes of a bus on fire. The Fire Department, thanks to a Fire Engine and a Tank Truck, poured cold water on the vehicle by putting in security.
Bill Clinton had a picture with illegal vendors
Small sightseeing tour in Florence for former U.S. President Bill Clinton. He was in Tuscany for an holiday. Many tourists has asked for a picture with him, but the only ones that Clinton granted a flash were some illegal immigrants vendors who were selling their goods via Calzaioli. At the end of the walk, close to Ponte Santa Trinita, Clinton said: “I felt young again.”
Clinton in Florence to visit the vintage cars exhibition
The former president of the United States, Bill Clinton, will arrive in Florence today at 5:30 pm. He will be accommodated at Four Season hotel where he would spend the night, to fly away early in the morning. In the garden of the hotel, the marvelous Giardino Della Gherardesca, is an ongoing exhibition vintage car and it seems that the former president cared very to visit it, because it also contains its own car.
Battle of Anghiari, removed the scaffolding
It returns “visible” the wall of the Salone dei Cinquecento in Palazzo Vecchio, Florence. Until yesterday, the wall was occupied by scaffolding used for the “hunt” to the lost painting by Leonardo Da Vinci, the “Battle of Anghiari.” The Ministry of Cultural Heritage has not given permission to continue the investigation funded by National Geographic and led by Professor Maurizio Seracini.
Captain Schettino claims credit for crew prize
The crew of the cruise liner Costa Concordia was awarded the title of ‘Seafarer of the year’ in the Lloyd’s List Global awards 2012. “Captain Francesco Schettino was delighted to know that his crew was awarded the prize ‘for the courage and professional skills’ shown during the Costa Concordia shipwreck, off the shores of Giglio Island”, a statement of the law firm defending Schettino.
