After completing its historic round-the-world voyage, the Amerigo Vespucci, the Italian Navy’s most famous training ship, is set to return to Italy, arriving in Livorno on June 4, 2025. The ship, a symbol of Italian excellence and maritime tradition, will remain in the Tuscan port until June 9 before continuing its journey to Genoa, where it will mark the official conclusion of its global tour during the Italian Navy Day celebrations.
This homecoming is part of the newly announced Mediterranean Tour, which will see the Amerigo Vespucci visit some of the most important maritime cities in Italy and beyond, including Trieste, Venice, Ancona, Ortona, Durres, Brindisi, Taranto, Valletta, Reggio Calabria, Palermo, Naples, Cagliari, Gaeta, and Civitavecchia. The initiative aims to share the ship’s experiences and values with the public, particularly inspiring younger generations to consider a career at sea.
As a further testament to its role as an ambassador of Italian culture and tradition, the Amerigo Vespucci will also make a special appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival on February 22.
During the presentation of the Mediterranean Tour, Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, highlighted the ship’s impact on Italy’s global image:
“The values and exceptional skills demonstrated by the Amerigo Vespucci have showcased the best of Italian maritime tradition worldwide, reinforcing its role as both a symbol of military professionalism and an ambassador of Italy on the global stage.”
With its arrival in Livorno, the Amerigo Vespucci will offer visitors a chance to witness firsthand the legacy of a ship that has carried Italian seafaring excellence across the globe.
