To create a third airport core after Rome and Milan, probably with the future project of a joint-venture between Pisa and Florence. The governor of Tuscany, Enrico Rossi, purchased from Monte dei Paschi di Siena the 5% of Airport of Florence share on Friday, just before Stock Exchange closed, spending about 5 million Euro.

New flights to Paris, Madrid and Barcelona

Local governments fight on the new airport runway

ADF, the management company of the airport, few weeks ago said that the only sustainable solution was to build a new runway parallel to the highway A11. But the president of the province, Andrea Barducci preferring the oblique runaway, also endosed by the governor of Tuscany Enrico Rossi.
ADF, almost 2 million passengers in 2011

“The goal of the Florence Airport is to reach two million passengers in 2012”, has announced Biagio Marinò, CEO of ADF, the Florence airport management company, inaugurating the new terminal of the airport. “We expect 2012 positive – Marinò said -, but not as much as 2011. We expect to close around two million passengers. Although revenues are growing, but will grow less than 2011.”
