UCI world road race championships in Tuscany
The routes of the 2013 UCI world road race championships in Tuscany have been officially unveiled with the elite men’s road race predicted to be the toughest since Bernhard Hinault won the rainbow jersey in Sallanches, France in 1980. The road races start in Montecatini Terme and Lucca before heading to Florence.

Juventus have jumped into pole position to buy Dimitar Berbatov from Manchester United, following Fiorentina earlier agreeing a fee with the Red Devils for the Bulgarian striker. Berbatov, who had flown to Munich to then catch an onward flight to Florence, did not make his connection and instead has remained in Germany while Juventus bid to agree a deal with Manchester United.
Serie A, ACF Fiorentina opens with win
Fiorentina used two goals from Stevan Jovetic to open the season with a 2-1 winning start against a weakened Udinese at the Artemio Franchi stadium in the firs saturday match of the Italian Serie A. Another good news for the city of Florence is after the match, Fiorentina co-owner Andrea Della Valle confirmed that Jovetic will not be sold in the current transfer window.
Women-basket, Italy overwhelmed by Texas
Aggies Roll Past All-Star Italy, 93-46 in Florence, Italy. Texas A&M will travel to Venice tomorrow and will play the third of a four-game tour on Thursday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. In the Florence’s game Senior Kristi Bellock scored 26 points to lead the Texas A&M women’s basketball team to a 93-46 rout of All-Star Italy on Tuesday evening inside the Palazzetto dello Sport in San Marcellino.
