The strength of a museum today lies not merely in the value of its assets, but above all in its abilities to promote and publicise itself using specialist services. In such a context the educational activities addressed to schools are fundamental since, on the one hand they bring young people closer to the cultural heritage of their region and on the other they stimulate important debate between schools and museums.

Open studios to discover the contemporary art
Organized and curated by the Centre for Contemporary Culture Strozzina in the regional project toscanaincontemporanea, Open Studios is a two years project – started in 2009 – which allowe to discover the places of contemporary art through visits to the studios of artists who live and work in the provinces of Florence, Prato, Pistoia, Pisa and Siena.
Wine-made painting art exhibit at Viva Vino LA
A new offerings this year at Viva Vino LA. It includes a special wine-made painting art exhibit by Elisabetta Rogai and an advance two-week Italian Restaurant Week at participating restaurants. Rogai uses red and white wine without any other chemicals to paint her romantic, expressive depictions of women.
Two cities into one to save 100,000 euros every year
The towns of Figline and Incisa Valdarno are applying for their two administrations to merge into one. Located south of Florence, the towns’ mayors filed formal requests with Tuscany’s regional governor, Enrico Rossi, to allow both towns to be managed under a single administration. Filing the requests, mayors Riccardo Nocentini and Fabrizio Giovannoni expect to reap administrative savings of up to 100,000 euro.
