Florence is preparing to embrace the magic of Christmas once again with the return of its traditional Weihnachtsmarkt in Piazza Santa Croce. One of the longest-running and most popular Christmas markets in Italy, the 2025 edition continues a tradition that has delighted locals and visitors for more than twenty years.
The festive village will open on Saturday, November 15, and run through Sunday, December 21, filling the square with lights, scents, and seasonal cheer. More than fifty wooden chalets will recreate the cozy atmosphere of northern European markets, offering visitors a sensory journey through flavors, colors, and crafts from across the continent.
From handmade ornaments and unique gift ideas to international delicacies and warm drinks, the market is the perfect place to experience the holiday spirit in the heart of Florence. Whether it’s mulled wine, bratwurst, gingerbread, or Tuscan specialties, every corner of the square will invite visitors to taste and discover.
The market will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours until 11 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, allowing everyone to enjoy the festive atmosphere under the illuminated facade of the Basilica of Santa Croce.
A rich calendar of events will accompany the market throughout its duration. Families with children can visit Santa’s House, where games and creative activities will take place every day. On weekends, live music, choirs, and flag-throwers will fill the square, while Santa Claus himself will make regular appearances to greet young visitors.
Admission to the market is free. The event is organized by ANVA and Confesercenti, with the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the City of Florence.
