FLORENCE, ITALY – From September 14 to 16, 2012, in Florence the 10th edition of the international perfume fair of the world’s top brands in artistic perfumery with special guest Chandler Burr. From Friday to Sunday, September 14 to 16 at Florence’s Stazione Leopolda, Pitti Immagine will present the 10th edition of Fragranze, the international fair event featuring the best in artistic perfumery.
Fragranze will showcase, with more than 200 brands exhibited, the most exclusive fragrances, body care, and wellness products, as well as cosmetics and scented accessories, by the world’s most select brands. The fair brings together industry leaders, the most prestigious noses and creative directors, and members of the public passionate for perfume.
Fragranze 2011 hosted 2,200 buyers and members of the trade from countries as diverse as Germany, Switzerland, and Spain to Japan, the Arab Emirates, South Korea, Eastern Europe and Russia. Special events and programs on the fair calendar brought some of the most prestigious international noses to Florence along with large and enthusiastic audiences.
The new layout of Fragranze n. 10 is designed by architect Alessandro Moradei and inspired by the theme of travel, a journey through the world of scent and across this planet that produces such extraordinary olfactory raw materials. Scent is an integral part of every place, and Fragranze 2012 will be an olfactory atlas, dedicated to the discovery of raw materials at all longitudes.
Once again, this year the fair will create two special sections, Spring – dedicated to new names and young brands, with name such as: Atelier-Flou, Castello di Ama, Gianluca Bulega Couture, House of Sillage, La Sultane de Saba, Mad et Len, Meo Fusciuni, Mountain Blossom by Fleur de Café, Neela Vermeire Creations, O’Driu, Peter Thomas Roth clinical skin care, Scentbar, Technique Indiscrète, Undergreen, Ut Olet Vinum!, X-Ray Profumo.
And Charms – featuring a carefully selected group of contemporary lifestyle accessories, with brands such as: Fibrae di Alessandra Lepri, La Tilde, Moliabal, Sanhistoire, Tarina Tarantino, Tataborello and Vetrofuso.
Renowned perfume critic Chandler Burr will be the special guest, presenting a lecture and a special installation created specifically for Fragranze
The special guest of this edition of Fragranze will be Chandler Burr, one of the world’s leading fragrance experts, journalist – Burr was perfume critic for the New York Times – author of two books on perfume, “The Emperor of Scent” and “The Perfect Scent,” and curator of the exhibition “The Art of Scent: 1889-2012,” opening November 13 at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
At Fragranze, Mr. Burr will give a lecture, “Jean-Claude Ellena: A Retrospective”— Ellena is one of the most important olfactory artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries, and the audience will smell each seminal work of olfactory art on distributed blotters, among them: First, Eau de Thé Vert, In Love Again, l’Eau d’Hiver, Terre, Ambre Narguilé.
Mr. Burr will also present a special installation, with the technical support from IFF – International Flavours and Fragrances – created specifically for Fragranze and its audience. Inspired by the Fragranze 2012 theme, Every Bottle of Perfume Contains a World will take place inside a huge olfactory map constructed inside the Stazione Leopolda, an interactive tour of natural raw scents from across the globe and the hands and faces of the farmers and havesters, the human beings, who grow and gather and process these beautiful raw materials.
The special Scent Dinner signed by Chandler Burr. In occasion of Fragranze, Chandler Burr will present also one of his famous Scent Dinners, a straordinary multisensorial experience that will take place in the evocative venue of St. Regis Hotel in Florence, the evening of Fryday Spetember 14th, and it will be dedicated to journalists and experts in the field.
