The Civil Protection Operations Room of Tuscany has issued a yellow weather alert for hydrogeological risk across the entire region. The alert is in effect from 6:00 PM on Sunday and will remain active throughout Monday, April 14.
According to Tuscany’s Governor Eugenio Giani, “Today we expect widespread rain and isolated downpours. Tomorrow, scattered showers will be more frequent in the northwest during the first part of the day, followed by widespread rain and local downpours in the afternoon.”
The Municipality of Livorno has added that “significant average rainfall accumulations” are expected, along with southeasterly Scirocco winds reaching gusts of 50–70 km/h, and “very rough seas offshore.”
The regional authorities clarified that the yellow alert has been issued due to the risk of hydrogeological and minor hydraulic issues. These risks include the potential for shallow landslides, rapid debris and mud flows, and rising water levels in minor watercourses.
Wind conditions are expected to worsen starting Sunday, particularly along the coast and islands, with Scirocco gusts and rough seas forecast both today and tomorrow, especially in southern sectors.
The Civil Protection advises residents to stay informed on weather developments and to avoid stopping or lingering near riverbanks and streams.
