FLORENCE, JANUARY 14 – A new record for tourism in Florence during 2015. For the first time it exceeds 9 million overnight stays, up 5.6% from last year.
The data, collected by the Metropolitan City of Florence and processed by the Centre for Tourism Studies of Florence, were presented in Palazzo Vecchio by the Councillor for economic development and tourism, Giovanni Bettarini.
According to the data, for the first time Florence exceeds 9 million overnight stays, with an increase in arrivals (80,000 units, + 2.4%), attendance (480,000 overnights, + 5.6%), and also with an increase in the average stay.
The tourism sector is driven by international tourists (76% with over 6,8 million of nights): especially by the American (1,3 million overnight stays, + 5%), Spanish and English markets. The numbers of Chinese tourists and Koreans are growing rapidly.
