Record in tourist arrivals for Florence during 2013

FLORENCE, ITALY – Strongly positive data relating to tourist overnight stays in the Province of Florence during 2013. Over 12 million and 500 thousand tourist presences on the Province territory with an overall growth of 2.9%.

According to the surveys official data, collected monthly by the Statistical Offices of the Province of Florence, trends of tourist flows for 2013 were characterized by a growth in arrivals ( +162 thousand units equal to +3,6 %) and presence ( +356 thousand nights equal to 2.9%) within the Province due exclusively to foreign demand which grew by 4.8% compared to a decline in domestic demand for more than two points .

Among the nationalities, United States continues to be the first foreign market of reference for the Florentine area.

Always very interesting results of tourist flows from BRIC countries : Brazil sees growing the presence of 1.6% while Russia grew by 10.3% and the Chinese market by 11, 9%.

In 2013 the city of Florence exceeded 8.2 million overnight stays with a growth in arrivals (+3.7 % or +120 thousand units ) and presence (+3.7 % to about 296 thousand overnights ).

Also in town is the non-hotel accommodations that recorded the largest growth (+9.0 %), although the hotel facilities producing good results (+2.4 %).

In other areas of the province the tourist growth in 2013 was lower than in the city due to a decrease in the days of stays; in particular, compared with an increase of +3.5% of tourists arrivals, an increase of 1.4% in overnight stays which leads to the average stay 3.4 days ( 3.5 in 2012 ) .
