Pitti Taste 9: the excellence in food lifestyles

FLORENCE, ITALY – From 8th to 10th March 2014, the Stazione Leopolda in Florence will once again host Pitti Taste 9, the fair dedicated to excellence in taste with 300 exhibitors for three days of tasting, discoveries, shopping and special events.

The event is presented by Pitti Immagine, in cooperation with Gastronaut Davide Paolini. It is dedicated to excellence in taste, food lifestyles and table design.

Taste has made a name for itself as the Italian salon dedicated to quality food and drink. It is here, amidst foods, wines, unique items and ideas that the world’s finest in the field of haute gastronomie and the ever growing audience of foodies, in search of products, inputs and new delicious passions to nurture, get together. And, in addition to the novelties and events at the Stazione Leopolda, the “off-site” program, FuoriDiTaste is back with its packed calendar of wine-food events around town. For one week each year taste takes over Florence, and Florence becomes one with Taste.

There will be 300 firms participating in this edition (up from last year’s 283, and with about 55 new exhibitors). They have been selected among niche producers of excellence from all over Italy: they will be presenting their products and innovations at the Stazione Leopolda and the Alcatraz Area, in a special setting designed by architect Alessandro Moradei.

“Taste is steadily becoming the key event for the high-end food and restaurant industries and for a wide audience of people interested in and enamored of quality foods”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine. “It is a journey of senses and ideas, a discovery tour of the many ways we express and experiment with taste today. In past editions, we have paid tribute to the protagonists of taste, and then to the places where food is featured, this time, Pitti Taste is launching the theme of the Fabbrica del Gusto – Flavor Factory, with the creative talents of Gianluca Biscalchin, one of today’s most original food-and-wine illustrators. Our aim is to celebrate the work, experience and skill of our food craftspeople – between tradition and innovation. Why? Because each edition of Taste is a platform for new ideas, the freshest trends of the moment – the trends that will make people talk and that will become the lifestyles of tomorrow. Because Taste not only presents the “best of best” of fine Italian foods, it emphasizes its enormous value to the cultural system: food is a serious thing, but at the same time it is ideas, entertainment and fun.”

The Flavor Factory is this edition’s main theme: excellent foods do not come about by accident: behind each one there is lots of experience, work and care. The food crafters at Taste are “heroes” of goodness, day after day they do their best to create their great little masterpieces. The Flavor Factory is a tribute to these masterpieces that give us the gift of pure joy: gastronomical delights. The Flavor Factory is the main theme of Pitti Taste 9, and the inspiration for the poster by Gianluca Biscalchin – long- standing food journalist and one of the most talented food illustrators on the Italian publishing scene today, and for the setting designed by architect Alessandro Moradei.
