From Giovanni Fattori to the 20th century

FLORENCE, ITALY – The exhibit is dedicated to collecting. The pieces of art exposed derives from Roster, Del Greco, Olschki collections: more than 100 unpublished works, but also photos-about sixty- never seen before. The original core of this collection arises from the friendship between Giovanni Fattori, the first Macchiaolo, with the Florentine gentleman, doctor, scientist and garibaldino Giovanni del Greco.

That was a one of a kind collection that, thanks to later additions, weddings and passion got richer and richer counting nowadays pieces of art of Fattori, Telemaco Signorini, Giovanni Abbati, Odoardo Borrani, Eugenio Cecconi, Vito D’Ancona, Luigi Gioli, Ruggero Panerai, Oscar Ghiglia, Ulvi Liegi, Llewelyn Lloyd and others.

The exhibit path is structured in five different sections: Pittori toscani della prima macchia (Tuscan painters of the early “stain”) (which contains rare views of Florence by Burci, Giovanni Signorini, Borbottoni, Moricci) Fattori e I Macchiaioli (Fattori and the Macchiaioli) (which is all about the four paintings commissioned by Del Greco to his friend Fattori, shown for the first time), Contributo a Giovanni Mochi (Tribute to Giovanni Mochi) (here are presented South American paintings of the mysterious artist who was a fellow with the Macchiaioli at Caffe´Michelangelo and then emigrated to Chile, becoming a promoter of the major principles of Tuscan realism), Pittori tardo macchiaioli (Late-Macchiaioli painters) (Dedicated to Cecconi, Panerai, Ciani and Luigi Gioli), Lloyd Ulvi Liegi e il Novecento (Lloyd Ulvi Liegi and the XX century) (beautiful paintings by Lloyd, authentic strength of the collection, Ghiglia and ulivi Liegi).
