Florence Metropolitan City seeks sponsors for monuments, parks and public events

The Metropolitan City of Florence has launched a campaign to attract private and public sponsors willing to finance the restoration and enhancement of monuments, green spaces and other public assets, as well as cultural and sporting initiatives.

The campaign, presented under the slogan “We want you”, invites companies, organisations and other public or private entities to associate their name with projects promoted by the Metropolitan City.

Among the areas open to sponsorship are the renovation and enhancement of public buildings and historical and cultural heritage, including assets such as Palazzo Medici Riccardi and the Pratolino complex.

The initiative also covers the supply and maintenance of benches, playground equipment and other facilities in parks and sports areas; the creation, redevelopment and maintenance of green spaces and monumental sites; floral installations; the restoration of fountains; and even projects involving fragrances produced from plants and trees.

Cultural and sporting events, as well as major communication campaigns, can also receive sponsorship.

Visibility in exchange for support

Sponsors may receive different forms of visibility depending on the project, including the display of their logo, plaques and inclusion in the Metropolitan City’s communication activities.

The current call concerns sponsorships worth less than €40,000. Interested parties can apply to be included in an open list of potential sponsors that the Metropolitan City will be able to consult when seeking funding for individual projects.

There is no final deadline for joining the list, but a first deadline has been set for 2 p.m. on October 21, 2026. Applications received by then will be considered in the first round of consultations for projects for which sponsors are currently being sought.

Potential sponsors must meet legal requirements, comply with applicable regulations and demonstrate that their activities and objectives are not contrary to the public interest. Proposals will be assessed individually and documentation will also be subject to checks required under Italian law, including anti-mafia regulations.

The Metropolitan City’s rules also allow sponsorship agreements worth more than €40,000. These can be arranged through specific public calls or following unsolicited proposals submitted by potential sponsors.

The initiative represents an attempt to bring additional private resources into the maintenance and enhancement of Florence’s metropolitan public heritage, while offering sponsors the opportunity to link their name to monuments, public spaces and projects with a visible role in the local community.
