Florence Korea Film Fest returns in March with films, shorts and digital comics

Florence will once again host the Florence Korea Film Fest, which reaches its 24th edition this spring. The festival is scheduled from 19 to 28 March and will present a programme ranging from major recent South Korean productions to independent films, short films and digital comics.

According to the organisers, the 2025 selection aims to reflect the diversity of today’s Korean audiovisual landscape. Alongside feature films, the programme includes short formats and digital storytelling, offering audiences a wider look at how Korean cinema and visual culture are evolving.

Beyond screenings

In addition to film screenings, the festival will host masterclasses, meetings with authors and directors, and in-depth cultural discussions. These events are designed to give audiences context on the films and on broader trends in South Korean cinema, with a focus on creative processes rather than red-carpet events.

The official poster for this edition, recently unveiled on social media, centres on a female figure wearing a transparent astronaut helmet filled not with oxygen but with flowers. The image is intended to represent cinema as a living ecosystem, where imagination is presented as an active force rather than an escape.

A long-running cultural fixture in Florence

Founded and directed by Riccardo Gelli, the Florence Korea Film Fest has become a regular fixture in the city’s cultural calendar, attracting both local residents and international audiences interested in Asian cinema. Over the years, the festival has positioned itself as a space for discovering new voices as well as for revisiting established directors from South Korea.

Further details on venues, schedules and guests are expected to be released closer to the festival dates through the event’s official channels.
