Florence will mark New Year’s Eve with a decentralised programme spread across several historic squares, offering different musical genres and public shows while aiming to manage crowds and safety. The main event will take place in Piazza Santa Croce, alongside concerts and performances in Piazza Santissima Annunziata, Piazza del Carmine and Piazza della Signoria.
All events are free of charge, subject to capacity limits.
Piazza Santa Croce: the main concert (9 p.m.–1 a.m.)
The flagship event of Florence’s New Year’s Eve will be held in Piazza Santa Croce, promoted by the Comune di Firenze and organised by Fondazione MUS.E in collaboration with Sky.
The concert will start at 9.00 p.m. and end at 1.00 a.m., structured in three parts: an opening DJ set, a central live music show, and a closing DJ set.
On stage will be Paola Iezzi, Tiromancino, Franco126, SARAFINE, and two performers from X Factor 2025, LAYANA and TOMASI.
The DJ set opening and closing the night will be curated by Lele Sacchi.
The evening will be hosted by Leo Di Bello.
The concert, part of the programme “Capodanno a Firenze 2026”, will also be broadcast live on Sky TV channels and streamed online via Sky TG24.
Piazza Santissima Annunziata: Gospel Symphony (10.30 p.m.–1 a.m.)
Under the Loggiato of the Spedale degli Innocenti, Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina will present Gospel Symphony – Florence sings in the New Year.
The concert will run from 10.30 p.m. to 1.00 a.m., featuring The Pilgrims Gospel Choir and Light Gospel Choir, accompanied by chamber orchestra. The programme ranges from traditional spirituals to modern gospel and pop reinterpretations.
Piazza del Carmine: jazz night (10.30 p.m.–12.45 a.m.)
Jazz will take centre stage in Piazza del Carmine with Piazza del Carmine in Jazz, organised by Associazione Music Pool.
From 10.30 p.m. to 12.45 a.m., the church square will host the Nico Gori Young Lions, joined by trumpeter Fabrizio Bosso. The programme includes swing, bebop, original compositions and Brazilian influences.
Piazza della Signoria: midnight countdown and video mapping
As midnight approaches, Piazza della Signoria will host a large-scale countdown projected onto the façade of Palazzo Vecchio, accompanied by an artistic video mapping created as part of the Florence Lights Up project, curated by Fondazione MUS.E.
Safety measures and restrictions
Given the expected high turnout, Florence will activate the Municipal Civil Protection Operations Centre (Centro operativo comunale, Coc) from 7.00 p.m. on 31 December. Coordination will be based in Piazza Santa Croce, with additional facilities at District 1 offices.
The city administration is also preparing ordinances — in coordination with the Prefecture — to ban glass containersand prohibit fireworks and firecrackers in public and publicly accessible spaces, following the same rules adopted last year. A public information campaign will accompany the measures, with particular attention to the impact of fireworks on animals.
