An Original Florence Photograph for Supporters This Holiday Season

As the holiday season begins, Florence Daily News is marking the occasion with a gesture of gratitude. Everyone who has already supported the publication — and those who make a new donation before January 6, 2026 — will receive an exclusive high-resolution digital photograph of Florence by Niccolò Romagnoli, a local photographer known for his experimental use of analog film.

The image offered to donors was originally shot on film and later digitised from the negative, preserving the grain, depth and tonal quality characteristic of the analog process. The file will be sent directly to supporters and can also be printed for personal use.

Romagnoli, based in Florence, co-founded Rollbox together with Antonio Logarzo. Launched in early 2024, Rollbox brings analog photography back into daily city life through a network of small lockers, the Rollboxes, placed in selected bookshops and cultural cafés. Anyone carrying a 35 mm or medium-format film roll can drop it into one of the boxes, scan a QR code, complete a short online form, and wait for the results. The photographers collect the rolls by bicycle, develop and scan them in their darkroom, and deliver the images digitally a few days later.

The photograph is a small thank-you to readers whose contributions help sustain independent English-language reporting on Florence and Tuscany — for residents, visitors, and those who follow the region from abroad.

Built around the idea “Give Thanks, Share Florence,” the initiative invites readers to keep the image as a seasonal memento or share it with friends and family, spreading a glimpse of the city while supporting local journalism.

Donations can be made through the website, and the photograph will be delivered shortly after each contribution is received. The file sent to supporters will contain the image only, with no text or graphic elements.
