Summer Comes Early: Sunny and Hot Week Ahead in Tuscany

Tuscany is entering a full summer mode this week, with clear skies, rising temperatures, and a stable weather pattern expected across the region. A warm high-pressure system is dominating the area, setting the stage for a stretch of sunny days and dry heat, while the first signs of a looming African heat wave are already appearing on the horizon.

The weather will remain mostly clear or only slightly cloudy throughout the week, with occasional afternoon clouds forming over the Apennine mountains. These may bring brief, isolated showers in the higher inland areas, particularly from mid to late afternoon, but widespread rainfall is not expected.

Temperatures are climbing steadily but remain manageable for now. Daytime highs will reach 34–35°C in the inland plains, especially in the provinces of Florence, Prato, and Pistoia. In southern Tuscany, particularly around Siena and Grosseto, peak temperatures may locally hit 36–37°C.

Fortunately, humidity levels are staying low, which means that despite the heat, conditions will feel less oppressive. The dry and stable air mass will help make the heat more bearable, without the discomfort of muggy weather.

Northeasterly winds will blow through the interior regions, while the coastal areas will experience a refreshing Maestrale breeze, especially in the afternoons. The sea conditions will remain calm or slightly choppy, making coastal escapes a pleasant option.

Minimum temperatures are also on the rise, with nighttime lows gradually approaching 20°C. However, nights are still expected to remain relatively fresh in most areas, particularly away from the coastline.

Looking ahead, this summer preview is expected to hold steady until at least June 16–17. Barring any sudden changes, Tuscany will enjoy a string of sunny, hot, but dry days — a classic Mediterranean summer without the extremes of high humidity or intense storms.

Whether you’re planning a countryside hike, a day at the beach, or simply enjoying the city, it’s the perfect time to embrace the early arrival of summer across Tuscany.
