Da Vinci Experience Returns to Florence with Immersive Multimedia Show

The immersive exhibition Da Vinci Experience is making its much-anticipated return to Florence. From June 9 to October 5, visitors can experience the life and genius of Leonardo da Vinci at the Cattedrale dell’Immagine, located inside the former church of Santo Stefano al Ponte.

This internationally production takes audiences on a 35-minute visual journey through Leonardo’s multifaceted world — as an artist, scientist, engineer, and anatomist. The show is divided into six thematic chapters: biography, color, painting, engineering/anatomy, water, and air. With a mix of narrative storytelling and generative video effects, the exhibition offers an accessible and compelling introduction to the life and legacy of the Renaissance master.

Upon entering, visitors will encounter anastatic reproductions of Leonardo’s original sketches, created by Giunti Editore as part of the “Progetto Leonardo.” These faithful reproductions serve as a gateway to the immersive experience and provide historical context to the visual spectacle.

The exhibition also includes a didactic section housed in the crypt, where visitors can explore scale models of Leonardo’s famous inventions. These detailed recreations, crafted by skilled artisans, bring to life the designs for flying machines, tanks, and hydraulic devices imagined centuries ahead of their time.

One of the highlights of the visit is the Da Vinci VR Experience, a virtual reality section that allows guests to actively engage with Leonardo’s machines. Through VR headsets, participants can operate a paddle boat, explore the interior of a tank, or take flight in a simulation of his flying devices. Additionally, the Mirror Room invites guests into a kaleidoscope of images inspired by Leonardo’s masterpieces — an ideal setting for immersive reflection and imaginative photography.

Da Vinci Experience will be open Monday to Friday until August 10. From August 11 onward, it will open daily.
