This Easter season, Florence welcomes residents and visitors alike to experience its rich cultural offerings with a full calendar of events across the city’s civic museums. From Easter Sunday through Pasquetta (Easter Monday), April 25 (Liberation Day), and May 1 (Labor Day), museums such as Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Medici Riccardi, and the Museo Novecento will remain open with guided tours, family workshops, and special exhibitions.
A major highlight is the Thomas J. Price exhibition at the Museo Novecento, which runs alongside shows dedicated to Marion Baruch and the collective exhibit Messaggere. The British artist, known for his large-scale sculptures exploring identity, power, and representation, brings a compelling contemporary perspective to the historic heart of Florence. Visitors can join guided tours and participate in family-friendly activities centered on the exhibition every Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
At Palazzo Vecchio, guests can enjoy a variety of immersive experiences including the Secret Itineraries, access to Bianca Cappello’s private chamber, and the engaging Living History Tour led by a character inspired by Giorgio Vasari. Families can join themed workshops such as Life at Court, The Marzocco: Florence’s Lion, and The Tale of the Turtle with the Sail.
A special Easter treat for children is The Explosion of the Cart event, celebrating the traditional Florentine Scoppio del Carro, with activities on Saturday, April 19 at 11:45 and Easter Sunday at 15:00.
On Friday, April 18, the Murate Art District will host Firenze mia città, a creative art workshop for families with children aged 8 and up, focusing on the city’s skyline and monuments.
At Palazzo Medici Riccardi, visitors can explore the newly opened exhibition Giovan Battista Foggini: Grand Ducal Architect and Sculptor, with guided tours on weekends at 15:00. A sculpture-themed workshop for families will take place Sunday mornings at 10:30.
The Stefano Bardini Museum invites families to a fun Easter Egg Hunt—a playful way to discover its artistic treasures—while Santa Maria Novella offers special focus tours on the theme of Resurrection on Easter Sunday at 14:00 and 15:30. Advance booking is required due to limited space.
With something for all ages, Florence’s Easter programming blends tradition and innovation, history and creativity—making it the perfect time to explore the city’s cultural gems.
