Florence has taken a significant step in enhancing its tourism infrastructure with the inauguration of the Firenze Welcome Center in Piazza Stazione 5, within the monumental complex of Santa Maria Novella. The center is set to become the primary hub for tourist information and assistance for the city and surrounding area, providing both onsite and digital services. It will be open from Monday to Saturday, 9 AM to 7 PM, and on Sundays from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
A High-Tech Welcome for Visitors
Equipped with state-of-the-art digital tools, the Firenze Welcome Center offers a dynamic experience that can be tailored to the season or major events in the city. Its services are further bolstered by the Firenze Tourist Contact Center, which operates via phone (055000), email ([email protected]), and the FeelFlorence virtual assistant, ensuring 24/7 access to information.
Inclusive and Comprehensive Facilities
The center is designed to be fully accessible, welcoming residents, visitors, and city users from both national and international backgrounds. In addition to the core information services, it features a bookshop and a café, rounding out the experience for guests.
Inclusivity is at the heart of the project, with services such as interpretation in International Sign Language (LIS) and mobility aids available for free on loan to visitors with reduced mobility.
Real-Time Connectivity and Sustainable Tourism
One of the center’s standout features is its real-time integration with other tourist information points in Florence and the surrounding region, supported by the upgraded Make Iat system. This connectivity aligns with the city’s broader FeelFlorence editorial network, which aims to promote a sustainable tourism model.
The Firenze Welcome Center encourages visitors to explore beyond the well-trodden paths, highlighting lesser-known attractions and promoting events, itineraries, and behaviors that align with sustainable tourism goals. Information is provided in multiple languages, ensuring accessibility for a global audience.
A Vision for the Future
The new facility represents Florence’s commitment to modernizing its approach to tourism while remaining inclusive and environmentally conscious. With its blend of cutting-edge technology, thoughtful design, and a focus on sustainable travel, the Firenze Welcome Center is set to become an essential resource for anyone exploring the city and its surroundings.
Visitors and residents alike can look forward to a seamless, enriching experience that embodies the spirit of Florence.
