FLORENCE, ITALY – Article 9 of decree law number 52 on Urgent measures for the gradual resumption of economic and social activities, establishes the green certification, also called green pass, that gives the opportunity to the citizens to participate in certain events or to move to Europe or between regions of red or orange color, waiting the European “Digital green certificate”.
The following certificates are considered “green pass”: the vaccination certificate, the report of a negative rapid or molecular test made no more than 48 hours before, the hospital certificate that proofs the end of the COVID-19 infection. They are valid in both digital and paper versions.
Who can have it?
Anyone who has been vaccinated with both doses is entitled to the “green pass”, who has tested negative for a molecular or a rapid test carried out within 48 hours; those who recovered from the infection, following a negative test.
Where can it be requested?
The “green certification” can be requested in the case of vaccination with both doses, available , in digital or paper format, by the health facility or the local health authority where the inoculation was performed. The family doctor or the hospital will certify your recovery from Covid. The certificate for negative molecular or rapid test will be issued by the laboratory.
What does it allow you to do?
The “green pass” authorizes you to move between red or orange Italian regions, to participate in certain events such as outdoor events or shows, civil and religious ceremonies, fairs, conferences and congresses.
How long does it last?
The duration of the green certification depends on the type of certificate that is presented. In the case of a vaccination certificate, the duration is 9 months. But it can be released already after the first dose and be valid from the 15th following day until the date of the recall. The certificate of recovery from Covid lasts 6 months from the date of end of isolation. The report of the negative molecular or rapid test , is only valid for 48 hours.
Where the certification is valid?
The Italian “green pass” is valid only for getting around Italy. At the moment it can also be used to go to Europe, until the introduction of the “Digital green certificate”, but it is valid only in countries that accept it. So to travel in Europe and the rest of the world, before leaving you need to find out about the documentation required by each individual state.
What is the European “Digital green certificate”?
Also known as DGC, it is the European “green pass” which will be available from June after the definition of the European rules. It has the same characteristics as the Italian green certification – therefore vaccination certificate, negative test or recovery certificate – but will have a «QR code» associated with a unique identification code readable by all EU states. It will be used to move freely between states without incurring quarantines or undergoing further tests.
