FLORENCE, ITALY – The State of the Union conference, #SOU2016, organised by the European University Institute (EUI), is an annual event for high-level reflection on the European Union and is a reference point in the EU agenda for policy-makers, civil society representatives, business and opinion leaders, and academics.
Over the last five years we have seen the participation of the President of the European Commission, the President of the European Parliament, Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Foreign Ministers. The 2016 edition is focused on the topic of Women in Europe and the World to analyse the status of women in terms of what has been achieved.
The conference’s sixth edition takes place in Florence from 5 to 7 May 2016. Among the participants of May 5 at the Villa Salviati, there will be Ignazio Visco, Governor of the Bank of Italy; Sandro Gozi, Italian State Secretary for European Affairs, Enrique Baron Crespo, former President of the European Parliament; Giuliano Amato, Judge at the Italian Constitutional Court, former Italian Prime Minister.

Among the participants of May 6 at the Palazzo Vecchio, there will be Dario Nardella, Mayor of Florence; Enrico Rossi, President of Tuscany Region; Leonardo Bassilichi, President, of the Chamber of Commerce of Florence; Jean-Émile Gombert, President of the EUI High Council; J.H.H. Weiler, President of the EUI; Monica Maggioni, President of RAI, Matteo Renzi, Prime Minister of Italy; Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister of Malta.
May 7 is dedicated to a special opening to the public of the grounds at Villa Salviati by the Historical Archives of the European Union (h. 10-19,30). Here the complete programme.
