FLORENCE, ITALY – Pitti Immagine Uomo 88, the key international trade event showcasing men’s fashions and contemporary lifestyle trends will be held in Florence from 16 to 19 June.
With its dynamic continuously evolving geography, Pitti Uomo is able to pick up all the signals of new moods in fashion and then present them with new and amazing projects. For example, there is the new section Open that goes beyond gender distinctions to dictate a precise kind of style, or Unconventional, that was created to present the most vibrant voices in the area of luxury underground styles. The looks for menswear of tomorrow are explored by Futuro Maschile and the sections dedicated to fashion research such as Touch! and l’Altro Uomo, and there are the special projects presented by the world’s biggest names, and programs that support new talents. And we should not overlook the other fascinating aspects of the event: from the excellence of the makers of the new classic to the rich world of accessories, to the brands that interpret the modern side of sportswear. Now, all this is being presented from a new angle with women’s collections no longer under a gender-sign but distributed around the fair according to styling criteria.
Pitti Uomo is reinforcing its role as the global platform for major names and international fashion groups that choose Florence as the place to launch new projects and take new steps in their development; for the as yet little-known brands that see Pitti Uomo as the ideal context for establishing their identities and generating business; and for the fashion system’s international players who present new concepts that are destined for the world stage.
With a record number of applications from around the world – 42% of the vendors at this edition will be coming from more than thirty countries – Pitti Uomo 88 will once again welcome its visitors to its unique atmosphere that makes doing business a pleasure and also entertaining. There are 1178 brands at Pitti Uomo, with their offerings developed for the international community that throngs to Florence during the fair – over 30,000 visitors attended the last edition – representing the world’s major department stores and small retailers.
And the theme for the summer fairs is…THAT’S PITTICOLOR!
“THAT’S PITTICOLOR! is the main theme of the June fairs”, says Agostino Poletto, deputy general manager of Pitti Immagine. “And it will be about color and colors, the colors we are steeped in, the colors that surround us, the colors that we wear, that are inside us and in front of our eyes. The language of color is also one of fashion’s basic “codes” and once again it will lead us into a full-immersion course, a plunge, into new looks and lifestyles. This summer, we will talk about and design the Pitti shows in color so that we can look at the world in Pitticolor”. With a set designed by Oliviero Baldini, the Fortezza da Basso will be transformed into a kaleidoscopic experience of installations, light plays and surprising forays into…the world of color.
