It’s Christmas time in the city

It ‘s Christmas time in Florence: in Piazza del Duomo was lit the traditional Christmas tree. This year a 16 metres fir tree is carried in the centre of the city,  adorned with red lilies and 25 thousand LED.

At the same time the lights were lit on the boulevards and in the five boroughs. Florentines and tourists can find other Christmas trees in Piazza Santissima Annunziata and Piazzale Michelangelo.

The lights are on since yesterday at 5 pm. In the same day, accompanied from the historical procession of Florence, the mayor of Florence Matteo Renzi has gone up Ponte Vecchio in order “to ignite” the decorations on Santa Trinita bridge and Tornabuoni street.

An installation of light design has been positioned also on the historical palace of Generali assurances in piazza Signoria: for 15 minutes, in loop, sounds, written and images of the cities of the world slide. The installation will remain for three days, during the world-wide council of the UCLG (United Cities and Local Government), that it will see the participation of delegated mayors and of local governments of all the world until Sunday.
