The murder of two Senegalese Tuesday in Florence shocked the entire community. For the mayor of Florence, Matteo Renzi, it’s time to made some cultural battles, promoting the integration by giving citizenship to children of foreigners born in Italy: “It would be a sign of normality – said Renzi during a morning radio show -, a sign of a civilized country. But, most of all, we have to do the real challenge of integration in schools. Children of Florence realized that this was not the blood of a play-station game, was not a movie. We must insist on the value of rejecting the fear of difference. The theme of integration is the real challenge we have to face”.
Stable conditions for the three Senegalese wounded by Gianluca Casseri in two ambushes in piazza Dalmazia and at the market of San Lorenzo. It’s a sense of deep sorrow, of piety, that experienced by the Minister for International Cooperation Andrea Riccardi, who visited the hospital to the three Senegalese seriously injured by the blows of the 357 magnum in the hand of the far right extremist Gianluca Casseri. The visit of the minister was short for the conditions of the patients. “It made me very sad – the minister said at the exit – I thought the life of this men who worked in the market and it was so hard hit.”
