The Florentine politics fights on the new runway for the airport of Florence. ADF, the management company of the airport, few weeks ago said that the only sustainable solution was to build a new runway parallel to the highway A11. But the president of the province, Andrea Barducci preferring the oblique runaway, also endosed by the governor of Tuscany Enrico Rossi.

Record in Florence, 12 million visitors in 2011
In 2011, for the first time, tourists in the province of Florence overcomes 12 million overnight stays (+8.4% compared to 2010). The only city of Florence, had over 8 million visitors and the rest of the province more than 4 million.
Villa Strozzi becomes the forest of fairy tales
The gardens of Villa Strozzi, on the south-west of Florence, becomes the forest of fairy tales. The project is named “The Wood storyteller” and it is an initiative of Gucci, the City of Florence, Italy, and the the University of Florence.

Tunnel at Fortezza, the road is open
Traffic in Florence is ok after the severe problems to the car circulation. The problems was due to the roadway closed in the tunnel under Viale Fratelli Rosselli, near to the Fortezza da Basso, where the event Pitti Uomo will begin Tuesday, January 10th.

Growth in passenger traffic in December at the airport of Florence. The performance of the number of passengers showed a positive 4.5%, compared to the same period of 2010. A total of 1,906,099 passengers recorded in 2011, up almost 10% over the previous year.

“The goal of the Florence Airport is to reach two million passengers in 2012”, has announced Biagio Marinò, CEO of ADF, the Florence airport management company, inaugurating the new terminal of the airport. “We expect 2012 positive – Marinò said -, but not as much as 2011. We expect to close around two million passengers. Although revenues are growing, but will grow less than 2011.”

Special rules govern access to, as well as transit through and parking in, this zone. Bicycles, electric vehicles, motorcycles and scooters are permitted entrance.
One million euros to fly in Tuscany
