The Port of Miami, Florida, called the Tuscan artist Giampaolo Talani to design a bronze statue of a ‘Sailor’, about 18 meters high. The statue will be placed on the point that separates the two branches of the U.S. port. The statue was chosen as a symbol of town twinning between the Port of Livorno and the Port of Miami during the celebrations for the 500 years since the death of Amerigo Vespucci.
