Birthplace of Leonardo awarded with Orange flag

It is thanks to these qualities, that the Touring Club Italiano awarded 35 Tuscan areas with the Orange Flag, a symbol of environmentally-friendly tourism.

Italy’s most awarded region definitely knows how to maintain the perfect balance of hospitality, quality food, wine and traditional products and its vast artistic riches.

In the province of Florence awarded areas are Barberino Val d’Elsa, Certaldo and Vinci, the birthplace of Leonardo: painter, sculptor, architect, musician, scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer whose genius, perhaps more than that of any other figure, Leonardo epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal.

Tuscany is synonymous with excellence thanks to its amazing historic and artistic treasures that seem to stop time in its tracks.
