FLORENCE, ITALY – Rose tricolor planted in Florence on the occasion of International Women’s Day to say no to all forms of violence against the female gender.
The flowers, a special variety invented last year by the florist Antonio Marchese to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian women, will be planted on 8 March as part of an initiative organized by the Commission of opportunities of the city council of Florence and the Rose Garden.
The Rose Garden is a park in Florence Oltrarno, Tuscany, Italy. It was created by architect Giuseppe Poggi in 1865, commissioned by the municipality of Florence as the city was going to be the new capital of Italy. It has a surface of c. 1 ha, over terraces.
