ACF Fiorentina has officially appointed ACF Fiorentina’s new president, naming Giuseppe B. Commisso to succeed his father Rocco, who died recently. The decision was formalised by the club’s board of directors at a meeting held in Florence.
Alongside the appointment of the new president, the board also approved the entry of Catherine Commisso, Rocco’s widow and Giuseppe’s mother, as a board member. Senior management remains unchanged, with Mark Stephan confirmed as chief executive officer and Alessandro Ferrari as general manager.
The move confirms that the club remains firmly under family control. In Florence, it also appears to put an end—at least for now—to rumours about a possible sale of the team that had circulated in the city in the days following Rocco Commisso’s death.
Continuity at the top
Giuseppe Commisso, 45, was already part of Fiorentina’s governance structure after the club was acquired by his father in June 2019 from the Della Valle family. Through the club’s official channels, he said he was determined to carry forward his father’s legacy and vision, while strengthening the club in line with its values, history and ties to the city and its supporters.
Management and sporting structure
On the sporting side, the club confirmed that Fabio Paratici is expected to take up his role as sporting director on February 4, 2026. Paratici, formerly with Juventus and more recently Tottenham Hotspur, will oversee the sporting area together with Roberto Goretti.
Background and professional profile
Giuseppe Commisso lives in the United States, in New Jersey, where Mediacom Communications—the cable television company founded by his father in 1995—is headquartered. He is vice-president and interim chief executive of the company, a role he assumed shortly before Rocco Commisso’s death, having previously held senior positions including group vice-president for corporate finance.
He holds a degree in civil engineering from Columbia University, where his father also studied.
Messages from local institutions
Messages of congratulations were sent to the new president by Florence mayor Sara Funaro and by Tuscany’s regional president Eugenio Giani. Both underlined Fiorentina’s role as a key part of the city’s and region’s identity and wished the new leadership well in a phase described as one of continuity with the past.
