Lucca Comics & Games 2024: A Record-Breaking Edition

LUCCA, ITALY – As one of Europe’s largest comics and gaming festivals, Lucca Comics & Games 2024 is set to welcome record-breaking crowds. With nearly 230,000 tickets sold, the festival will draw fans from around the world to celebrate pop culture, art, and gaming from October 30 to November 3. The city’s unique setup transforms Lucca’s historic streets, and due to the scale of the event, local schools will close for five days to accommodate the influx of visitors.

In preparation for the anticipated high turnout, Trenitalia has announced an additional 140 trains to help festivalgoers reach Lucca during Lucca Comics & Games 2024. This expanded service, arranged in collaboration with the Tuscany Region, will offer a total of 400,000 seats, making the journey easier and more accessible for fans. Travelers are advised to purchase tickets in advance and arrive at stations early, as increased foot traffic may lead to longer travel times. An added highlight for fans will be a “The Legend of Zelda” themed train on October 30, open to registered visitors at Lucca Station’s Platform 1.

One major highlight this year is the tribute to Dungeons & Dragons, which celebrates its legacy with an exclusive exhibit and events devoted to this iconic game. Fans can explore the world of D&D through artwork, interactive spaces, and memorabilia, bringing the beloved game to life. Alongside this, fans of Final Fantasy artist Yoshitaka Amano can visit his new exhibit, Corpus Animae, showcasing over 130 works spanning Amano’s acclaimed career.

For collectors, the Italian Mint (Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato) has released an official Lucca Comics & Games commemorative medal, a unique keepsake available to attendees.

With panels, gaming tournaments, and exclusive merch on offer, Lucca Comics & Games 2024 promises an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages. This edition showcases how deeply embedded the festival has become in the world of pop culture and community-building in Lucca.
