Florence mayor suggests to postpone Pitti Uomo in July

FLORENCE, ITALY – To postpone the next edition of Pitti Uomo to July for the preparation of the fair in attendance, in compliance with safety anti-Covid 19 regulations. This is the goal of the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, who started a dialogue with the Italian Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza and the other cabinet members Massimo Garavaglia (Tourism), Luigi Di Maio (Foreign Affairs), Luciana Lamorgese (Interior). At the center of the discussions was the support for the event and the arrival of exhibitors and buyers from abroad.

Nardella’s goal is not only to give Pitti a chance, but also to ensure that the international fashion show in Florence can be the first fair in attendance in Italy. Also Italian Prime Minister Draghi had spoken of a return to normality with the reopening of fairs, theaters and congresses.

“In Florence we have enthusiastically welcomed the words of Draghi – said Nardella to Tgr Rai Toscana – now the government has to keep his words”. And after confirming that he had spoken to the 4 ministers, the mayor explains that he did so «to have the guarantee of having Pitti in attendance, the most important men’s fashion fair in the world and the first Italian fashion fair. We are ready to guarantee maximum health security protocols. We expect the government will give to Florence and Italy the opportunity to recover for companies and families “.

At the beginning of March, Pitti Immagine had set the dates for the 2021 summer shows: Pitti Uomo is scheduled for June 15 to 17 at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence.Pitti Bimbo is scheduled from 23 to 25 June, followed by Taste (27-29 June) and Pitti Filati (30 June – 2 July at the Stazione Leopolda).Pitti Fragranze (17-19, Stazione Leopolda) and Super (23-26) are scheduled for September at the Visconti Pavilion in Milan.

Pitti Immagine has not made yet official comments about the possibility of a postponement to July 2021.
