Theresa May lays out Brexit transition in Florence speech (live streaming)

FLORENCE, ITALY – Theresa May speech in Florence, Italy, sets out her vision of post-Brexit Britain in her most important speech about the EU since January.

Downing Street announced that the Prime Minister would speak in Italy on Friday, September 22, at 3 pm (CET) and had chosen the venue to show that Britain was leaving the EU but not leaving Europe.

Mrs May had chosen Florence because: “The UK has had deep cultural and economic ties spanning centuries with Florence, a city known for its historical trading power,” Downing Street announced.

On the Italian social media is growing a campaign that calls on the Florentines and residents in Florence to fly the European flag in front of the former carabinieri station, where the Prime Minister will hold the speech.
