Pisa Mover, from the station to the airport in 5 minutes

FLORENCE, ITALY – The Pisa Mover was inaugurated today. The new automated transport system for passengers in five minutes connects the Galileo Galilei airport to Pisa Centrale train station. The route of Pisa Mover is one kilometer and 760 meters long.

The new link also provides an intermediate station called San Giusto Aurelia where two large car parks are able to accommodate 1,330 cars.

Pisa Mover is fully automated, electrically powered in order to minimize the energy and environmental impact and is composed of two trains of 107 passengers each, which will be active 365 days a year, from 6 to 24.

The new railway was built by Condotte Spa, its subsidiary Inso, and Leitner. The cost of the construction work has been about 71 million euro: 21 million were financed by the European Union and the rest was from private partners who will operate the railway for the next 36 years.

The train will be free until March 26, then the single ride will cost 2.7 euro. Special rates are provided for customers who will use the new parking lots. The travel time is five minutes.
