Palazzo Reale in Milan

Giotto’s masterpieces from Florence to Milan

FLORENCE, ITALY – Thirteen masterpieces by Giotto will be shown at Milan’s Palazzo Reale from September 2 to January 10, 2015.

The works, which hail from different collections, had never been shown together and the exhibition represents a unique opportunity to discover some of the most iconic masterpieces of the Florentine artist.

One of the most interesting pieces shown at exhibit is the Polittico Stefaneschi, a large alterpiece that had not left the Vatican since Cardinal Jacopo Caetani Stefaneschi commissioned it for the Basilica of Saint Peter.

Other exceptional Giotto masterpieces come from Florence, Padua and Bologna and the exhibit is also intended as a chronological tour through the artist’s career.

Giotto di Bondone was an Italian painter and architect from Florence in the late Middle Ages. He is generally considered the first in a line of great artists who contributed to the Renaissance.
