Pitti Uomo 88 opens to positive signs, says minister Guidi

#Pitti88 opens to positive signs, minister Guidi says

FLORENCE, ITALY – The 88th edition of the bi-annual Pitti Uomo men’s fashion exhibition opened on Tuesday in Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, where Economy Minister Federica Guidi was on hand to offer her observations about the future for Italian entrepreneurs in difficult economic times.

“It shouldn’t be taken for granted that we’re out of a difficult time, but there are positive signs,” Guidi said. Praising the ‘tenacity’ of Italian entrepreneurs and assuring the Renzi government’s commitment to business, Guidi said there are “millions of new consumers who have an extraordinary hunger for Made in Italy goods”.

“We have to make it so that entrepreneurs can intercept (these consumers) more rapidly,” she said, adding that foreign investments are important for sustaining production chains. Guidi also speculated that the Ministry for Economic Development’s strategic plan for Made in Italy products, which allocates 18 million euros for sustaining Italian fashion exhibitions, could possibly provide additional funding for Pitti Uomo.
