FLORENCE, ITALY – GE Oil & Gas and Nuovo Pignone celebrate a double anniversary this year: 20 years after the acquisition of Nuovo Pignone by General Electric in 1994, which has allowed the foundation of what is now known as GE Oil & Gas; 60 years since the former mayor of Florence, Giorgio La Pira, persuaded Enrico Mattei (Eni president) to purchase the Pignone, saving the factory from closure and enshrining the birth of Nuovo Pignone (1954 ).
Nuovo Pignone-GE Oil & Gas is now recognized as a center of worldwide excellence in the oil and gas turbines, compressors and pumps. Nuovo Pignone exports its machinery and its technologies worldwide.
“Immaginiamo il futuro, da sempre” is the celebrations of these anniversaries. It will be held on November 28 and 29, 2014, at the Stazione Leopolda, Florence, Italy. The prime minister Matteo Renzi will open the 2-days celebrations.

During the event visitors can see the photos of the contest “Pictures of the future” which was attended by many high school students in Florence.
