FLORENCE, ITALY – It is being opened on the coast of Tuscany the first beach entirely managed by former psychiatric-ward patients. The new seaside establishment is located in Tirrenia, and it will be called Big Fish.
The business is the brainchild of the local Alba association, which for years has assisted people with previous mental health issues to reinsert themselves into society and into the working world.
The Big Fish establishment has 43 changing cabins, nine of which also cater for people with disabilities, 120 shared sun umbrellas and another 60 single ones, as well as common recreation areas for children and disabled people.
