Italian police, opened the section of ANPS in NYC

NEW YORK, USA – It was opened yesterday in New York a new section of ANPS, the National Association of Italian State Police. It ‘s the first based in the United States and the third outside of Italy, after Toronto and Melbourne.

The ceremony was held in the Palais des Nations, at the presence of the Consul General of Italy in New York, the Minister Plenipotentiary Natalia Quintavalle, from Pietrasanta (Tuscany).

The italian delegation was led by national ANPS president Claudio Savarese. There were also a group of policemen from Tuscany and other Italian regions, led by Alberto Caracciolo, invited by the Italian-American communities of New York and New Jersey for the eighth consecutive year the celebrations of Columbus Day.

“Our department has 71 members – the president Sergio Cirelli said – most of whom are American policemen on duty, with an Italian origin. There are also nine federal and State judges. The association was also joined by the chief of police of New York and Newark, Joseph Esposito and Samuele Di Maio.” “Best wishes for this new initiative – the console Quintavalle said- which meets in New York and New Jersey people close to Italy and shows how the Italian police is known and appreciated.”

The commissioner of the New York City Police Department (NYPD) Raymond Kelly and Joseph Esposito, NYPD chief department, are also attended an evening in honor of the new section ANPS and greet the group of Italian police. “Our example has always been Joe Petrosino – Kelly said – the italian police officer and a pioneer in the fight against organized crime.” The meeting was offered by La Locanda of Brooklyn, whose owners (Cono Columbo and his family) have always been friends of the Italian police.

To celebrate the birth of the American section of ANPS also arrived the national actors, who played two football matches against a representative of the Italian-American police, one in New Jersey, the other in New York. Sunday, October 7 there was also a play at Christ The King Center in New York. Among the most famous actors were Enrico Montesano, Lino Toffolo teach and Pino.
