FLORENCE, ITALY – Florentine’s Niccolo Campriani won shooting gold Monday in the men’s 50-meter rifle 3 positions, while Matt Emmons of the United States earned the bronze medal.
The 24-year-old Italian won his second medal of the London Games, setting Olympic records with his total and qualifying scores to add gold to the silver he won last week in the 10-meter air rifle. Campriani, who trains in Morgantown, W.Va., posted a score of 1180 in qualifications and won the competition with a total mark of 1278.5.
Few days ago shooting for his home country of Italy, Campriani won the Silver medal in the men’s 10m air rifle, today, inside the Royal Artillery Barracks, at the 2012 London Summer Olympics.
No. 1- ranked Campriani, the reigning air rifle world champion, finished with a total of 701.5, while Romania’s Alin George Moldoveanu earned the Gold with a total of 702.1. India’s Gagan Narang placed third with a final total of 701.1.
