Two cities into one to save 100,000 euros every year

The city of FiglineFLORENCE, ITALY – The towns of Figline and Incisa Valdarno are applying for their two administrations to merge into one. Located south of Florence, the towns’ mayors filed formal requests with Tuscany’s regional governor, Enrico Rossi, to allow both towns to be managed under a single administration.

Filing the requests, mayors Riccardo Nocentini and Fabrizio Giovannoni expect to reap administrative savings of up to 100,000 euro.

Figline Valdarno is a municipality in the Province of Florence in the Italian region of Tuscany, located about 25 km southeast of Florence. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 16,769 and an area of 71.7 km². The municipality is the birthplace of Marsilio Ficino.

Incisa in Val d’Arno is a municipality in the Province of Florence in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 20 km southeast of Florence. The church of St. Alexander houses a fragmentary triptych by Andrea di Giusto. The Renaissance poet Petrarch grew up in Incisa, although he was born in Arezzo.
