FLORENCE, ITALY – It’s sunny in Florence, Italy, after a cloudy and snowy week, but temperatures are still below zero. The weather alert due to ice and strong winds is still valid until Monday, February, 6. According to the forecast, next week there will be still freezing cold and snow over the weekend.
Publiacqua has issued a warning to prevent the rupture of water pipes. When water freezes in a pipe, it expands, the pipe bursts, water escapes and serious damage results. Water freezes when heat in the water is transferred to subfreezing air.
The best way to keep water in pipes from freezing is to slow or stop this transfer of heat. If you are in the house a solution is to drain the water system. Publiacqua invite Florentines and tourists in private houses to cover outside pipes if it’s possibile. For any other information you can call Publiacqua to the green number: 800.314.314.
Italian authority, considering these adverse weather conditions, renews the maximum prudence and attention on the roads in particular on the area interested from snowy precipitations and advises to inform about conditions and the need to equip with chains or winter tires. Some problems with the rail network did cancel dozens of trains.
