For New Year’s Eve in Florence there are some free open air shows to celebrate the new year; big parties in the main piazzas include Italian rapper Caparezza, gospel music, classical music, jazz and folk and disco music.
In that night citizens and tourists can enjoy also the circus Moira Orfei (Palasport viale Paoli) and the ice rink in piazza della Libertà at the Parterre.
In Piazza della Signoria, there will be a concert of classical music with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Donetsk. On stage 45 items. In piazza della Repubblica, will play the florentine band Les Italiens and the Turin-based group The Sweet Life Society. In largo Annigoni (opposite to Sant’Ambrogio market) there will be DJs Diggei Independent Consortium. Piazza Stazione will be the heart of nightlife for the New Year Eve. From 8 pm will play the Italian rapper Caparezza.
Great expectations also for the concert of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in the new Opera House. Leonidas Kavakos on violin, soprano Patrizia Ciofi, tenor Fabio Sartori, conducted by Zubin Mehta, accompanied by Maggio Musicale (Chorus and Orchestra), will lead the audience on the night from December 31 to January 1, performing excerpts from the great Italian operatic repertoire, by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, with some symphonic cameos, drawn by Ludwig van Beethoven, Maurice Ravel and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
The concert sold out will begin at 9 am, but at 7 pm guests can enjoy a buffet dinner in the rooms of the New Opera House. After the concert a dance party will follow.
